Call For Submissions
London, England: The North American Actors Association (NAAA) is seeking new North American plays for our Annual Playreading Festival 2011.
NAAA returns to the world renowned Central School of Speech and Drama for its Annual Playreading Festival to take place in their Webber Douglas Studio Theatre, September 5 – 10, 2011.
Following a three-stage reading process by UK-based industry professionals, chosen scripts will be rehearsed by professional directors for script-in-hand readings with NAAA’s professional North American actors. Previous festival plays have gone on to further development and full productions on both sides of the Atlantic. Last year’s festival was attended by literary agents, producers and directors from across the UK’s theatre industry.
We welcome theatre playscripts (no screenplays please) not previously performed in the United Kingdom. Your play should have primarily North American roles and an emphasis on North American culture as it will be cast from the NAAA membership. NAAA also continues to support the ongoing FIA and Equity campaign to increase the number of roles for women in theatre. Scripts can be one-act or full length but please not over two hours long.
To submit a play for consideration for the 2011 festival please register at www.naaaplayreadingfestival.com. The deadline for submissions is Friday April 1st, 2011.
Save Money on Postage
In previous years, Playwrights were having to stump up as much as $70 postage to send their plays overseas to us. We felt that this puts an unfair financial burden on writers, so in fairness to all, this year we are accepting electronic submissions only. You simply upload your script in PDF format via our registration page. We ask only a small administrtion fee of £15, equivalent to approximately $25 US, all proceeds of which will go directly into making this years Festival better than ever!!
